We all know it’s best to have a healthy snack after working out. Studies have shown that eating a small meal of protein and healthy carbs helps increase the benefits of your workout and speeds up the fat loss process. So what’s your favorite post workout meal?

  1. Like you, I am usually starving after a good workout, but what about BEFORE the workout?

I try to eat a good meal (for me that is usually lunch), that consists of a lean protein, a healthy carb and a little healthy fat, a good 90 min. before my workout. This time frame gives my body time to digest and ensures that I have the energy needed to sustain a hard workout. Of course after my workout I am starving and need a good snack. I’m usually between lunch and dinner so I don’t want to eat to many calories or spoil my dinner.

    So what do I choose?
One of the quickest and easist for me is a piece of whole grain bread with 1 tbsp. of either peanut or almond butter. It is filling and has all the elemnts (healthy carb, protein, healthy fat).

Another choice could be a piece of fruit and 1/2 cup low-fat cottage cheese or a low-fat yogurt.

So, what do like you like to eat?
I would love to hear your comments and ideas.

My favorite post-workout meal would have to be spaghetti with lots of meat sauce.
